Stay at MONTANA MAGICA LODGE, Chile

This amazing Lodge is located in the province of Valdivia, very close to the border with Argentina at Hua Hum. Situated within the Huilo-Huilo National Reserve, this Lodge has got to be the most unusual Lodge in all of South America. It almost seems like a little piece of 'Middle Earth' and one half expects the hosts to be hobbits. But this lodge is no fantasy.

Montana Magica Lodge welcomes adventure seeking travelers and those who are looking for tranquillity in a magical setting. An waterfall is showering the lodge and blends in harmoniously with the sounds of nature. The Lodge has been built exclusively with local wood and nine cozy superior rooms are decorated in a warm, natural and pleasant mountain style. In addition to the hotelrooms, the lodge also offers 10 rustic log-cabins.

A professional team with an eye for detail is looking after guests, with great dedication. The cozy restaurant prepares fresh local specialties and serves Chile's finest wines. An homely bar fitted with audio-visual equipment provides another place to relax after an adventure filled day. There are also hot tubs mad from natural tree trunks - great place to hang out and enjoy an excellent glass of Pisco Sour in this most unusual setting.

The surrounding scenery of valleys, mountain slopes, nearby volcanoes and evergreen Valdivian rainforest comprises this surprisingly intact ecosystem which hosts a great variety of wildlife. The pristine waters of its rivers and lakes make the Huilo Huilo Reserve a privileged place for those looking for a real nature experience. At Monta?a M?gica Lodge you can enjoy one of the Chilean Lake District's best hidden treasures.

Its location is very convenient for those who want to explore the beauty of the Chilean and the nearby Argentinean Lake District, which can be reached easily by (car)ferry across lake Lake Pirihueico.

Activities
One of the reserve's main tourist attractions is the Choshuenco volcano (2.415 m / 7.923 ft), which offers year-round skiing and snowboarding for experienced skiers. Here you won't find a ski center in the traditional sense, withlifts and tracked runs, but back country skiing at its finest. For those not interested in skiing, the area has a lot more activities to offer: whitewater rafting and fly fishing trips on the rivers Fuyand Enco, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking or canopy, to name only a few. And after such a day filled with outdoor activities, visitors are welcome to take a relaxing bath in the natural hot springs near the volcano.

Wildlife conservation
Thanks to its surprisingly intact ecosystem, the Huilo-Huilo Reserve protects a great variety of wildlife. There are various wildlife conservation projects, such as the 'Laguna de los Patos(duck pond), which is designed to protect endangered species of ducks. Wild boars, pumas and mountain lions are other famous residents of the Huilo-Huilo reserve.
